I just posted a Summer Camp video yesterday only to turn on the computer today and see that a new one popped up from their Young EP. Pretty sure this is an official video this time. Not as great as yesterday’s Bubble Boy one, but it’s Summer Camp, so it’s still pretty awesome.
Kevan Giffen made this fantastic fan video for Summer Camp’s newest single “I Want You” by using scenes from the movie Bubble Boy, dirtying the footage up and editing it to look like something much, much better. While I’ve only heard bad things about the actual movie, this is a Bubble Boy I’d really like to see. The film is the perfect metaphor for the lyrics of this song. The breathy way she repeats “I want you,” the throbbing synth; it’s all so damn sexy. I’ve already expressed my love for Summer Camp on this blog before and it only gets better with this song. I just love this song.
You’ve heard of Reading Rainbow before. You’ve marveled at a Double Rainbow, all the way. Now behold the glory of a Gravy Rainbow from New Zealand’s Disasteradio:
There’s lots of other crazy videos they’ve made on Disasteradio’s YouTube page (although none of the others are quite as genius as this) and you can download their two 80’s-tastic albums for free on their Bandcamp page (or pay for them, if you’re feeling generous/guilty).
I’m digging this song right now. It reminds me a bit of Siouxsie Sioux singing a Roy Orbison song. It would feel right at home on the Twin Peaks soundtrack.
This may possibly be the greatest music video ever made, much in the same way that Troll 2 is possibly the greatest film ever made. It is so astoundingly, yet earnestly, bad that at first you dismiss it as crap, then you re-watch it to see if the video was a joke or not, and then, many viewings later, you can’t get the idiotic song out of your head. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. When I first saw this video on Saturday it had roughly 40,000 views on YouTube. As of me writing this less than a week later it has roughly 13 million views. Like me, the rest of the world must have needed answers to such burning questions as:
What days precede and follow Friday?
Should I sit in the front seat, or the back seat (or the only damn seat that’s actually available)?
Follow up question, why is she still trying to figure out what seat she’s going to sit in as they are drivin’ down the highway?
Can I have fun, fun, fun, fun on a Friday? What about partying?
We, we, we so excited? Yep, we so excited.
Is that kid even old enough to have his driver’s license?
Why is that black guy in his 30’s hanging out with a teenage white girl?
This is awesomely epic. For all my epic sax man fans out there:
[UPDATE: I’ve embedded a higher quality, extended cut of the video. ENJOY!!!]
At first I was a little surprised to discover that Jeremy Jay is actually from California, because this song and video seemed so European. Then I realized that this style of retro 60’s pop has of course become very popular in California recently, but my mind went to where it all started with the Labrador label in Sweden. It also turns out that the footage used in this video was actually taken from a 1969 Danish short film, which, I guess, is what really led me astray. If you like bands like Best Coast or Radio Dept. you’ll dig this tune.

In a case of the internet actually imploding in upon itself, the new video for Wolfram’s "Fireworks," featuring Hercules and Love Affair, was actually inspired by and made to look like a fan-made YouTube video. It’s a fun, bouncy little track. If you like it, RCRDLBL also has a prettier remix of the song from J.AGEBJORN for free download here.

Ninkasi Total Domination IPA
This IPA goes down smooth, with very little aftertaste. Tastes like a skunky weed or a dank basement.
Nice amber color, almost like honey. Very balanced flavor of multiple hops. Just the right amount of bitter for an IPA, not at all overpowering. [Side note: This goes surprisingly well with nachos.]

Iron Horse Brewery Double Rainbow
This not quite a red, not quite an IPA has double the hops and malts to make a surprisingly tasty brew.
Dark amber coloring. It goes down really smooth and has a pleasant aftertaste to it. There’s a real nice balance to the sweet and bitter.
