Clams Casino – Natural

I imagine this fan video for Clams Casino’s “Natural” captures what the world looks like after you’ve drank an entire bottle of Robitussin, or what the world must look like to Klaus Kinski (not that I’ve experienced either before). Either way, the choice of using footage from Werner Herzog’s “Aguirre: The Wraith Of God” is brilliant. The music captures the feeling of the film so well that I don’t feel like it would seem out of place if put on the soundtrack.

João Brasil – L.O.V.E. Banana (feat. CSS’s Lovefoxxx)

You’re in for a treat with this video. João Brasil enlisted vocal help from CSS’s Lovefoxxx for this infectious, very fun and highly suggestive ode to bananas…or not. I personally hate bananas, but I L.O.V.E. this song:

Beat Connection – In The Water

“In The Water” has a beautiful Balearic summer vibe so similar to artists like Delorean that you would swear Beat Connection came straight from the white sand beaches of Ibiza. It may surprise you then to realize that they are actually from dark and dreary Seattle, Washington. Apparently I’m not the only one who loves this type of music to get through a grey day. Everything about this track is bright and energetic, especially that steel drum sound, which is just so wonderful. This is the ideal song to add to your summer mixtape.

Bon Ivar – Calgary

When Bon Ivar put out his first album I kind of just let it pass me by, because I’m not really into slow, sad music. If you haven’t already figured it out, I like my music with a little more pep in its step. And I almost let his new album pass me by too, but after resisting the urge to close the window I was using to watch this video on YouTube after its slow start, I found myself enjoying what this song was building into. “Calgary” layers a slow synth line at the beginning of the song with a propulsive drum beat and energetic guitars while still retaining that calming, quiet quality. It’s a really pretty song. Reminds me a bit of what Arcade Fire might sound like as an 80’s band.

Azari & III – Hungry For The Power / Into The Night

Speaking of new club songs with retro club beats, Azari & III’s “Hungry For The Power” has a great late 80’s/early 90’s acid house sound to it, with a little 90’s R&B thrown in for good measure. They actually made two videos for this song and I was going to post them both, but unfortunately the first one, which was shot like a early 90’s black and white hip-hop video, was made private on YouTube quickly after it came online. Sadly we can no longer compare and contrast them, but at least the second video (which I guess now is the official video) is still pretty cool (and a little NSFW).

Since I couldn’t find that other version of the “Hungry for the Power” video, I figured why not just give you some classic “Into the Night” action? I know, I know…totally worth it. As one person commented on, it’s a “classic from the future”. Enjoy.

[EDIT: Son of a bitch. I waited a week for someone to re-up that first video of “Hungry For The Power” before I finally got sick of waiting and just wrote my post. This morning I opened my inbox only to see an email from YouTube saying the video is back on YouTube. WTF?]

Sander Kleinenberg – T.I.O.N.

It’s been years since I’ve heard anything from Sander Kleinenberg, but apparently he’s got a new album out called 5K and a new video for the single “T.I.O.N. (This Is Our Night)”. “T.I.O.N.” is a funky old-skool Chicago house club track with Green Velvet-esq vocals and I really like it. Throw this track on at the height of a party and you’ll definitely get some asses moving.

Woodkid – Iron

Yoann Lemoine is a respected director who has worked with such artists as Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Moby, Yelle and the Mystery Jets and now, I guess, he wants to start making some of that music himself as Woodkid. He’s off to a pretty damn good start with the truly epic song, “Iron”. This song just feels huge with all of that orchestral brass horn and tribal drumming. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if we heard this song in a future commercial campaign of film trailer. The video, directed by none other than himself, is equally stunning with its use of slow motion and black and white camera work.

Panda Bear – Surfer’s Hymn

This unofficial (yet approved) video for Panda Bear’s “Surfer’s Hymn” is a tongue-in-cheek touching “tribute to surfers taken by the sea” that features day-glo skeletons surfing through a cemetery. It’s a frickin’ fantastic video. Panda Bear is a favorite artist of mine. His ‘Person Pitch’ album is amazing and the new album ‘Tomboy’ is not too shabby either. For those not familiar with him, he sounds a bit like how an old Beach Boys record might sound if you were tripping on ‘shrooms.

I ❤ this video.

Best Coast – Gone Again

We love Best Coast here at C’est Non Un Blog and they’ve come up with yet another great single for Adult Swim’s Singles Program. The Adult Swim Singles Program is where every week Adult Swim gives away a new indie single for free on their website all summer long. Best Coast’s contribution comes with a suitably cartoonish video, which involves three men getting executed with foodstuff by hot chicks in kitten ski masks. If I had to go out that way, I guess hot fudge flamethrower would be the way to go.
