Just in time for your holiday weekend, I give you the second mixtape that I made for ! Nevermind the fact that it is labeled “Amy’s Memorial Day Mix,” since she never listened to it until a week ago anyway. For all extensive purposes it’s now the “Independence Day Mix.” Why not? We’re just swapping one patriotic holiday for another.
It all makes sense in my head, anyways.
So what should you expect with this one? Well, if mixtape #1 was a nonstop dance party at the club, mixtape #2 is the after party. It’s a little more mellow than the last one, definitely a lot more eclectic, but it still has plenty of good songs to shake your booty to, if that’s what you’re into.

Love Kings of Leon? Not only do I have a remix of Use Somebody by RAC, but I also have a cover of Knocked Up by Lykke Li.
Looking for a dance remix of classical music? Why the fuck not? I’ve got a beautiful Röyksopp edit of Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint: III. Fast.
How about weird-ass South African hip-hop? If you’re not yet familiar with Die Antwoord, you’re about to be.
Do you wish I had more classic soul divas on my compilations? Now I’ve got Dinah Washington, Etta James and Sugar Pie DeSanto! Plus a new soul diva in the form of Kelis!
And I know what you’re saying. If only Ben put on a 8-bit cover of The Pixies’ Monkey Gone To Heaven this mix would be complete. You know what? I’ve got that too!

I’m looking forward to the new one! I’ve enjoyed them both.
I’ve got more than enough songs saved up right now for, like, three mixes. A new one shouldn’t take too long to finalize and get up, although I figured I should probably wait a little bit to give people a chance to listen to the last one.

There’s really nothing I dislike on the first one at all. Favorites include:
NROTB – Take Me Upp.
The Shakira cover is awesome b/c I love the Shakira song.
BOOTAY is a fav of Jerome’s.
Love Juice is a good one. Heart Beat by Kylie, of course.
The Designer Drugs remix of Moving Forward is great.
Cut Me Up remix.
But, like I said, there’s not a thing I dislike.

Shakira’s She-Wolf is genius, I agree. I’m in heaven any time she does one of those Ahwooooo’s!
I luv that Designer Drugs remix of Moving Forward. When that main melody line kicks in after the chorus you can just imagine a club full of people bouncing up and down in unison to it, mainly because that’s what I find myself doing at home usually when it comes on.
Have you gotten the new Kylie album yet? Not only is it great and not only is she still super hot, but I just saw an interview with her recently and she has to be the sweetest, most down to earth pop diva I’ve ever seen. I’m so in love with Kylie.
