OK, to be fair, America is one of the few countries in this world where the media is NOT owned by the government. The only station owned by the government is PBS, which also happens to be one of the most critical of the government. Is the media heavily influenced by the government though? YES. If they don’t have access to the government they don’t have stories and no stories, no news. So they do tend to suck up to them.
That said the real problem with the media is not the government, but the ratings. Instead of reporting on real news they report on things they can sensationalize, because that makes them more money. The problem isn’t the government, it is capitalism.
Now, now, I think we’ve all learned a valuable lesson about the dangers of weiner poopies.
Local news is a riot.
