…does anyone know how to shop for an apartment without first seeing it? Because I’m not really coming up with many good ideas to solve my housing situation. You don’t just get something without first seeing it, am I right?

Well, people have done it, sure.
But if you can’t make it out there for an apartment scouting trip I recommend doing extensive research on neighborhoods [so u dont end up in thee ghetto], then only look for places in the neighborhoods you choose, then only ones with pictures.
If you can find one where a lease isn’t required, or you can do a shorter lease – do that.

That’s what we did, sort of. A friend in the area went to the apt for us and took a video of it, plus drew out a floor plan. But other than that, it was sight-unseen.
Do you know anyone who could do that for you? Otherwise, as long as you know it’s an ok neighborhood and you have some pics and a description, I don’t think it’s a big deal to rent without seeing it first. It’s not like you’re buying.
