Some things are better left till later

I was going to be good and start up the Monday Movie Review again this week and I got half of my reviews done and out of the way, but then I got a little sidetracked by Moviepalooza 2007.

Six films. Four theaters. Two days.

I think that was definitely a record for me. And it was pretty fun too. Hopefully I’ll get to write about them soon. Using my computer right now freaks me out though, so I’m definitely shying away from using it right now. I’m very seriously thinking right now of starting preparations for just wiping the whole drive and starting over. Or just buying a new computer, although I’m not really sure at this point I really need one, aside from the whole spyware thing.

Best deal of Moviepalooza? I did a double-header at Images in Williamstown for 5 bucks. That’s five for both movies, $2.50 each. And this is the place I usually don’t go to because I think it is overpriced. All I have to say is God bless bargain night.

did you like children of men? saw that one tuesday myself… (Josh)

    • I really loved Children of Men. In fact it probably would have been my favorite movie that I saw in those two days if it weren’t for another little children movie, Little Children.

I loved Children of Men, too. And not just the long takes, though they were totally dreamy. Little Children… well, not so much. Lots of stuff to like, but lots of stuff that I didn’t, too. What about Perfume? (Josh)

    • What didn’t you like about Little Children?

Perfume was surprising. I really liked it, and yet I only went and saw it because Harry really wanted to see it. It’s funny, disturbing, and has one of the all-time weirdest endings to a film that I’ve ever seen. Which, from me, tends to be high praise.

Well, I guess what I should say is that I *did* like Little Children, I just thought it fell short here and there. The voice over never really worked for me – made the movie feel like a cartoon for some reason – nor did the ending, especially the way a couple of the storylines wrapped up – felt too easy to me. But there was definitely some good stuff going on.

I think I saw a clip from the ending of Perfume – I don’t think I’m going to catch it in theaters, but I definitely will get to it on video…
