Sign Wisdom

You have got to hand it to the firemen for their creativity. This message takes two drilled-in-your-brain slogans and then combines the two with a common theme, which gives everything a whole new meaning. It’s like Japanese poetry.

Prevent cooking fires:
Watch what you “heat”.

This Methodist Church is quickly becoming one of my favorites for completely nonsensical messages.

Pray for the “as is.”
Stray from the “what if’s”.

What does that even mean?? Don’t try and better yourself, people! What if I had a job I didn’t hate? What if my husband didn’t beat me? What if we had a government that wasn’t totally and completely corrupt? All worthless questions. Status quo, people. Status QUO. God likes things JUST THE WAY THEY ARE.

Finally, another sign from my sister, who somehow through blood gets this sign obsession of mine:

I was driving by a church in Moravia and I read: “Don’t give up: Moses was once a basket case.”

Well, that one just explains itself, now doesn’t it? Once a basket case, now head of the NRA. I guess that’s an example of praying for the “as is”.

  1. I don’t get what you said about the Moses one.
