A quick update about work before I go back to work:
Yesterday we unloaded a giant 42 inch Phillips widescreen plasma TV onto the show floor, and by God was it awesome. So very awesome. If I just happened to have five grand lying around I totally would get one. The four of us were just standing around it going “Wow…”
I really like my job. Unlike the mindless monotony that was my old job at Saint Gobain, this job is a hell of a lot more fun. I work with a bunch of people right around my age who all love movies and music and video games and whatnot. Everyone is extremely nice, and not once have I gotten that “new guy” vibe. In fact the opposite is true, everyone seems really happy to see me there. And when you get to talk about electronics equipment all day with happy, friendly people, what’s there not to love?
The hottest fucking girl came in yesterday. Really cute, beautiful eyes, fantastic smile. I got to see this because I was on the show floor all day learning more about the Wave Radios and 3-2-1 systems and all that. Damn she was fine. She was with a guy though, and for like fifteen minutes Dave, Jesse and I were discussing whether he was her boyfriend or brother. All of us secretly hoped brother.
I also found out that after completing my first 90 days at Bose, and having done everything the way I’m suppose to, I actually get to take one of the Lifestyle systems home with me. I don’t actually know which one yet because I haven’t learned anything about it yet, but those are some pretty sick surround sound home theater systems. Damn, what a perk!
In other news, that night I went over to Harry’s to watch Azumi (by the director of Versus). A little slow at times and not as good as Versus, but there was still a lot of great Samurai action (especially at the end…awesome) and some great blood spurting. Worth seeing. I can’t wait until I actually have money and I can pick up my own disk.
Ken Watanabe, who’s currently basking in his first Oscar nomination for The Last Samurai, has joined the cast of Warner Bros.’ upcoming Batman film. He’ll play villain Ra’s Al Ghul to Christian Bale’s Dark Knight. Cool!

hey maneatingcow23. what’s up?
The Passion of The Christ is in theaters soon – this week on Wednesday.. what do you think about this movie? I’m going to see it for sure – the trailers were enough to convince me. I read somewhere that it’s the widest opening ever for a subtitled movie; I have a feeling subtitles won’t detract from the full effect of this movie though. After looking at the trailers which have no subtitles or english at all, it was reinforced for me that lack of spoken english in this film won’t hurt one bit. To sum up my impression of The Passion: it’s a work of art.
Good Website
Another fascinating aspect to this movie is all the controversy that has been generated about it.
Some people, not really representative of Jewish people, but rather self appointed Jewish spokespeople, such as Abraham Foxman from the Anti-Defamation League, seem to have been attempting to denounce this film for months as being anti-Semitic. The news reported that they even stole the script last year! But here’s what some Jews say (Jews who don’t make it their job to tear apart other people): Protesting Gibson’s Passion Lacks Moral Legitimacy by Rabbi Daniel Lapin.
Nice to see some people speaking rationally.
So what do you think of all this?

Re: hey maneatingcow23. what’s up?
OK, first things first. Do I know you Kyle? I really don’t think so (since I don’t recall ever even meeting someone named Kyle in my lifetime), which means that I might actually have a fan of my blog outside of my small ring of friends. Sweet! My first fan! (As you can see, this is all totally going to my already overly bloated head.)
So if this is all true and my plan for total world domination has indeed finally been set into motion, how long have you been reading this exactly? Inquiring minds, Kyle, inquiring minds.
It’s interesting that you should write about The Passion of the Christ, since it is something I’ve been reading about and talking about with my friends, but I don’t think I’ve really mentioned it at all in this forum (I forget, did I mention here my thoughts on the Primetime special? I can’t remember). Anyway, thanks for all of the links, but don’t take it hard when I say I didn’t actually check any of them out. As anyone can tell you, I am a lazy man, and now that I’m finally working I have less time do mindless searching (especially since my dad is using the phone as much as a teenage girl lately). That’s OK though, I’ve read countless articles over the last year about the movie, saw the Primetime special and I’ve seen the trailers, so I’m pretty much caught up on that anyway.
Anyway, even though I have no money yet and don’t get paid until next week I’m still going to see The Passion of the Christ this weekend. I’m sure I can find five bucks somewhere. So expect a movie review in the Monday Movie Review, and because of the controversial nature of the film I’m sure I’ll probably have plenty to say. I’m a big fan of The Last Temptation of Christ (which I reviewed last summer) and I have a huge focus on religion in my life (that’s all my senior project was about, really).
As for your subtitle comment, you must not watch many foreign films, no? Anyway, the subtitles won’t bother me any, since I was still going to see the film when it was originally suppose to have no subtitles whatsoever. I mean hell, if you’ve ever been to church you already know the story. I really don’t see what the big deal there is. Bring on the dead languages!
The Passion, work of art or work of pure madness? That is to be seen. As I said, look for my opinion come Monday.
As for the Jewish controversy. First of all, I think you are a moron if you really think the Jewish people of the world killed Christ, and I really don’t think Mel thinks they did either. I mean, Jews did kill Christ, but that’s because they were in Judea. The only people there were the Jews. I really doubt Vikings sailed down just to kill Christ. But really the whole point of the story is that we all killed Christ, not just the Jews. If you never got that then you haven’t read your Bible closely enough. Will people just leave the Jews alone already? I really don’t understand what they did to piss everyone off.
Just because Mel didn’t mean the film to be inflammatory though, doesn’t mean it won’t be. Film can have a powerful effect on people, and not always a good one. I bring to everyone’s attention the D.W. Griffith silent film, Birth of a Nation, which single handily resurrected the KKK and made it so much bigger than it ever was during the Reconstruction, even though anyone who’s really watched the film and understood it realizes that it is about how horrible the KKK was and how it was institutions like that that built our country. Just because Mel didn’t mean the movie to be inflammatory doesn’t mean people won’t totally misunderstand the message. From what I understand the movie doesn’t really stress the whole Love part of Jesus’ message.
And as for the controversy, the more I read about it the more it seems like the whole thing was constructed by Mel to build it up into the media event that it now is. I mean, let’s face it, Jesus movies don’t really have the best track record at the box office. And the weird thing is that Mel was defending the movie against all of its charges BEFORE those charges were even made. Hmm….think about that for a moment. Sound fishy to you?
Anyway, thanks for the comment Kyle, and keep reading and commenting! If you feel like it, maybe even tell me a little more about you.
Your jobs sound fucking AMAZING, man! Way to go! Hot women clients, bitching audio/visual gear around you at all times, working people your own age!!!!
Score.
More cuties came into the store today. Score! If only I knew what the hell I was talking about when it came to the product, I would totally go over there. Damn my ignorance!
Another great part about the job: at least half of the time I was there today the three guys and I just stood around talking random shit: music, movies, girls, etc. I love this crew!
Job indeed sounds excellent.
I heard about Ra’s Al-Ken, and I’m way more hyped to see the movie now. The previously rumored Liam Neeson would’ve been a decent Ra’s, but he just doesn’t look mean enough. I can’t hear him saying “detective” with the menace I expect from Ra’s. Ken Watanabe, on the other hand, could say “detective” and have it mean “man who I’m going to manipulate at every turn, and kill at the drop of a hat if he doesn’t fulfill my expectations.”
Although I don’t know as Ken Watanabe will be the greatest Ra’s (I am an extreme Batman movie purist, to a frightening degree), I am thrilled about hearing that he was chosen for the role. Way to think a little outside the box. There is hope for this movie yet.
