Genki Sudo presents World Order – 2012

Genki Sudo is back with a new single and another amazingly cool video. Warning: This video has been known to cause extreme cases of happiness and as a consequence it may in fact brighten your day. People who do not want to walk around giddy for the rest of the day should probably not view this.

“2012” is probably best viewed in HD and full screen, and on the YouTube page there is a link for a free download of the mp3. Enjoy:

Arty & Mat Zo – Rebound

I have no idea what the hell this actually is, but whatever it is, it is FUCKING AMAZING.

Stay+ – Fever

Both the song and video for Stay+’s “Fever” start off really dark and ominous but at about the halfway point the song suddenly turns into this huge chill-rave dancehall party starter. If you’re looking for a song to start off a Halloween dance party, you could do a lot worse than this one.

Summer Camp – Down

Summer Camp are probably, by far, my favorite band from this year. I just downloaded their full-length debut album ‘Welcome To Condale’ and I’m very excited to listen to it over and over again. In the meantime we can all enjoy their latest video for “Down”, which is, I believe, about an animatronic haunted house designed using a real-life Halloween party. The video is really fun and cute, just like most of their other videos, and “Down” is a rip-roaring party starter perfect for all of your Halloween parties this weekend. Enjoy!

Memory Tapes – Offers

I’m a huge fan of Memory Tapes and so I just had to share this video for the new single off of their album ‘Player Piano’, called “Offers”. It’s so pretty and relaxing, perfect listening for a crisp fall day. If you haven’t already listened to ‘Player Piano’ you really should. It’s good stuff.

Citizens! – True Romance

Wow, I love this video. Once you get past the initial feeling that this footage from a Bollywood musical doesn’t go with the song at all, you’ll begin to see how perfectly this footage matches up with the music. Whoever the editor of this video is, they did a genius job. Not only does the dancing match up with the beats of the song perfectly, but the love story between the two main characters in the video matches the theme of the song to the T. This is a really fun video.

M83 – Wait

Here’s another M83 video of a song from ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ and this one is just as good, if not even better than the last one. When I first started watching this video I was only paying half attention to what was going on, but by the end of it I was saying “Wow” over and over to myself. The video uses found footage from the Sixties of a chimp taken from the wild and trained to be shot into space by NASA. The end of the video features shots of the chimp rocketing into space intercut with footage of the Vietnam War, JFK getting shot and the Civil Rights momement while M83’s song “Wait” just soars and soars into the heavens. This is so beautiful and poignant and it hits you right in the gut with emotion. I highly recommend that you watch this video. You will not regret it.

Keep Shelly In Athens – Lazy Noon

Here’s another example of a new song put to old film footage, this time from Roger Corman’s 1963 ‘The Terror’. I’m not sure the song works as well with the footage this time around, but god is the song good. “Lazy Noon” has a blissed-out slow groove that’s perfect for this lazy Sunday afternoon. I’m about to fall asleep from boredom, but at least I’ll do so happy while listening to this song.

Grimes – Oblivion

I really like the idea of taking old film footage and cutting it to modern songs. I think it would be a really fun experiment to take and old movie and recut the entire thing with a contemporary soundtrack just to see how it changed the mood and tone of the film, and to see how well it all held up. This particular video is a fan-vid for Grimes “Oblivion” done to footage of Roman Polanski’s 1965 film ‘Repulsion’ and I think the song goes fantastically well with the footage.

DyE – Fantasy

This is what happens when a French animator tries to outdo the Japanese in the weirdness department. This video by Jérémie Périn is fantastic and the music by DyE is amazing, just like all the other stuff I post here, but…well, this is a fucked up video. Some freaky-deaky stuff happens here and it’s totally NSFW, so enjoy this awesome song at your own risk. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
