Daft Punk – Get Lucky

It’s kind of amazing to me that we haven’t seen any official videos for “Get Lucky” yet (not counting that extended SNL preview) especially considering how it’s almost universally agreed that “Get Lucky” is 2013’s song of the summer. In lieu of actually having any official videos for any of the songs on ‘Random Access Memories’ I give you this fan video made from famous dance scenes from film, which is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and even maybe make you want to try out some new dance moves.

Pete Drake – Forever

As you may or may not know, Daft Punk’s long awaited new album just hit the net and everyone’s talking about it. Probably the best comment that’s appeared so far came from Diplo, who tweeted, “This is what daft punk album sound like” with a link to the video below. While Diplo’s grammar could use some work, the video he posted is perfect.

Flight Facilities – I Didn’t Believe (feat. Elizabeth Rose)

The always infallible Flight Facilities have a new single out called “I Didn’t Believe”, a funky disco banger guaranteed to get your boogie on. While the Soul Train found footage video has been done to death by this point, you’ve got to admit that this video is really well edited and put together. I especially love the couples dancing section at the end.

Tame Impala – Prototype

Check out this amazing, tripped-out cover of Outkast’s “Prototype” by Tame Impala. Nostalgia drips off this track like butter on a warm ear of corn on the cob. This really takes me back and reminds me of how great an album ‘The Love Below’ was.

Twigs – How’s That

Twigs’ “Hide” came out of nowhere last year to become one of my favorite songs of 2012. I still don’t know much about Twigs, but I do know that she recently did a new track with producer Arca, which you can listen to below. It’s the perfect soundtrack for any late night, drugged-out music listening sessions.

Annie – Tube Stops and Lonely Hearts

It’s been 3 years since Annie put out her last album and judging from this track I definitely think the world is ready for her to release some more music. Annie herself describes “Tube Stops and Lonely Hearts” as an “emotional tribute to the rave culture in the early 90’s” and I think that’s a pretty apt description of what is going on here, although for me personally Annie’s distinct voice will always be associated with the early 2000’s no matter what kind of beat you put behind her.

Butterclock – Holograms / Don’t / Hustling (feat. oOoOO)

Butterclock’s sound meets somewhere in between Grimes and Glass Candy, and since those are two of my most favorite artists right now it should come as no surprise that I fell in love with these tracks almost immediately. Beautiful, haunting vocals lifted up by chunky glitterball grooves? Sign me up.

The “I Liked C’est Non Un Blog Before It Was Cool” Mixtape

Next month marks C’est Non Un Blog’s 10 year anniversary, and to celebrate that startling milestone I put together a new mixtape for all my loyal readers to enjoy before the sudden influx of new readers hoping to jump on the C’est Non Un Blog bandwagon rush to the site, ruin everything that made it fun by turning it mainstream and blah blah blah *insert other pretentious nonsense here*. In truth, when I found this picture of a young Charlotte Ramping rocking some serious hipster frames way before that was cool I knew that I had to make it my album cover and have a little fun at my own expense at the same time.

Download the new mixtape here. And if Mediafire’s being a real bitch again like last time, you can always download it here.

This time I didn’t really see much of a point in wasting time getting to the good stuff so we jump right into things with Lemonade’s “Softkiss”, a keyboard-propelled New Wave pop gem that really sets the tone for the types of songs that I gravitated towards for this mixtape.

As always I’m mostly interested in songs that send out good vibes and Theme Park’s “Tonight” is the perfect song to throw on the radio right before a big night out.

Chordashian’s “Cold Nights” is one of my very favorite recent discoveries. Its sound takes me back to the golden days of European trance music, pure club-banger glitterball madness with just enough of a modern dream pop luster to make it feel like something special.

Not much to say this time out. I’m sure that I’m going to become much more verbose as C’est Non Un Blog’s 10 year anniversary officially rolls around. If this is your first time checking out the blog make sure you “Like” my Facebook page for all the latest blog updates and if you get a chance let me know there what you think of the new mixtape. I hope you like it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.

Tracklisting after the jump….

Jai Paul – Track 2 / Str8 Outta Mumbai

I know I dip from the Burkhart well a little too often, but when he puts out videos as amazing as this one, can you really blame me? This has to be one of the superbly edited videos that I’ve ever seen. You couldn’t purposefully direct a better video for this song than Burkhart has created here. Seriously, this is one of my most favorite videos ever.

There’s a little controversy surrounding this song. This week Jai Paul’s self-titled album suddenly appeared on Bandcamp selling for $7 with each of its tracks labeled only by number (“Str8 Outta Mumbai” is how the demo version of the track was labeled), then a few days later the album disappeared from Bandcamp just as mysteriously and suddenly as it had arrived. His label claims that the album was stolen from his laptop and posted to Bandcamp by someone else illegally, but the whole affair is just so weird that a lot of people are speculating that this was some kind of drummed up publicity stunt designed to build up a lot of buzz for the otherwise unknown Jai Paul. We’ll see how it all turns out.

Jessie Ware – Imagine It Was Us

“Imagine It Was Us” is Jessie Ware’s most club-friendly track yet, especially if you dream of vogue-ing in gay clubs in the 90’s. Don’t remember this track from your repeated listenings to her debut album? That’s because “Imagine It Was Us” is a bonus track from the new Gold Edition of Devotion, out on the 15th. Like always, Jessie’s voice melts off the vocals like hot butter on a warm knife, and I have to say I’m loving those new bangs. Looking hot, Jessie.
