Daddy Day Camp. Seriously?

Anybody else now wondering if Cuba Gooding Jr. wasn’t actually Method acting when he won his Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Jerry Maguire? “Show me the money,” indeed.

Current Obsessions

I’m the kind of guy who just becomes obsessed about something for no rational reason other than it is new to me and I like it. Here are three of those things I’m obsessed with right now:

Bravo’s Top Chef. I broke my no TV during summer rule to watch this amazingly addictive reality show that actually treats the contestants with respect, has real challenges that make sense and doesn’t talk down to the audience. When is the last time you saw reality TV like that?

World Music. This one came out of nowhere. Well, I guess not out of “nowhere”. When I start to listen to a lot of music, which I’m prone to do, and it becomes “too much” I suddenly find a paradigm shift in my tastes and latch onto something new and different. And I’ve been listening to a lot of music lately. With Easy Street records right down the street, New CD Day has taken on new meaning, and CDs have replaced DVDs in my obsessiveness on Tuesday new release days. All of the sudden I buy a Bhangra CD (Indian Bollywood-like dance music). Then a reggae CD. Then I discover the Rough Guide series of CDs from some cheap sampler disks and become instantly hooked. Right now I’m listening to music from the Congo. Crazy!

Westerns. Long thought to be a dead genre in American filmmaking, it is fighting to come back. First, season 3 of Deadwood came out on DVD, which was awesome (although the ending, probably of the entire series, I found rather anti-climatic). Then I watched Clint Eastwood’s High Plains Drifter Now, two Westerns are coming out in the next month, a remake of 3:10 to Yuma and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Both of which look awesome, and I can’t wait.

The Front’s Not Supposed to Fall Off

This one is pretty funny. At first I couldn’t tell if was a really was an actual news report or a lost Monty Python sketch.

Mario, Sometimes you are such a bitch

Anyone who has ever played old school Mario has gone through the exact same thing. Although it probably wasn’t as funny as watching this.

And I’m sorry, but I just had to post this again. It is too good not to keep sharing:

Do the Salmon Dance

When I first heard the new Chemical Brothers album I thought this was the stupidest song, but then after another listen or two it quickly became my favorite. I don’t know what it is, but it is damn catchy.

Sure, I’ll take your free money. What’s the worst that can happen?

I’ve been getting a lot of emails lately from foundations that want me to spread around their vast fortunes for a small fee, of course. Apparently Nigerian princes aren’t the only ones who don’t know how to use a bank. My favorite was the guy who had a fortune of 1,000,000,00. Uh, aren’t you forgetting something there buddy?
