The Last Screening for Two Masters

How crazy is it that Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni died on the same day? What a tragic day for film.

yeah, I know a few of you just said, “huh?”

I said “huh” because Antonioni apparently didn’t get any press, and I hadn’t heard about his death.
    Sad day, indeed.

    • The reason you probably didn’t hear about Antonioni’s death was because the Italian government didn’t announce it for a day, so even though he died on the same day as Bergman, no one reported it until the day AFTER they reported on Bergman.

After Saraband, I was hoping Bergman would maybe make one or two more movies. It’s a bummer, all right, but I can’t help but think of the line from A Prarie Home Companion – “The death of an old man is never a tragedy.”
